Hera

Hera was the queen of all the Greek gods and goddesses. She was the daughter of Cronus and Rhea. She was the wife of Zeus. Their wedding night lasted for 300 years. She is the mother of Ares, Hebe, Hephaestus and Eileithya. They had an unhappy marriage because Zeus was unfaithful.  This made her angry and jealous.  Hera is the goddess of life. She concentrates on the welfare of women and children.  Peacock and the cow are her sacred animals. Hera is the goddesses most concerned with the welfare of women and children. Hera is a title meaning "lady". Hera had captured a beautiful looking cow named Io. She had a monster with 100 eyes named Argus guard the cow.   Hermes went to save the cow from the jealous Hera and he got away. In a contest to find out who was the fairest goddess on Olympus, Paris was to be the judge. Hera offered wealth, Athena offered wisdom and Aphrodite offered beauty and love. Of course, the winner was Aphrodite.
