Eos

Eos is the goddess who brings the dawn. She is the mother of the four winds. While all of the other of the gods and mortals were sleeping, she rose and awakened the earth. She sprinkled the dew drops on the plants. One morning Eos looked on the earth and then her eyes fell upon a young man just waking up from his slumber. She wondered how it would be because she was a goddess and he was a mortal with such a short life span. When it was time for Helios to drive his chariot across the sky, Eos went to Zeus and asked him for eternal life for the mortal. Zeus granted her wish. Eos brought him to her place in the east and they spent many happy years together. Eos had forgotten to ask Zeus for eternal youth and then slowly the prince started becoming a grasshopper. He had gotten so small that Eos put him into a basket. Eos went on living her life happy and young.
