Liver

The liver is the organ that filters the blood. It secretes a fluid called bile that helps digest fatty foods. The most common diseases that destroy the liver are cirrhosis and hepatitis. When transplanted, a compatible match must be made between the donor and recipient so that a rejection does not take place.
