We're in the Money!

We took a field trip to visit a
local numismatist during our study about money. His name is
Pete Gray. He has a lot of old money, including coins from a sunken
Spanish galleon, and Civil War paper currency. He told us a lot of things that we
didn't find during our research, and we included
his information on our site.

Mr. Pete Gray shows members of our ThinkQuest team money from his large
collection.
He told us a lot of useful information and it was fascinating to see money from the past.
He
told us about why they made pennies from steel back in l943, and he gave each of us
a
set of steel pennies.

After our study on money, we did a cool
art project and created our own "designer dough." Here is how
we did it. First, we cut a piece of
poster board 16"x 8". Next, we painted our poster board with green water
colors. We took pictures of each other with a
digital camera and loaded our pictures into the computer.
Then, we printed out our pictures with a black and
white printer. Next, we cut out our pictures and glued
them on our poster board. Then we
designed our bills. See our finished product below. We truly are in
the money!

Thanks to Mr. Pete Gray at Opal's Jewelry for helping us with our research!
