The fruit group is an important part of the
food pyramid. Fruits give you the nutrient Vitamin C. The
health benefits of Vitamin C are that it helps heal cuts and bruises and
helps fight infections. You should have between two and four
servings of fruit each day. Examples of fruits are watermelons,
apples, oranges, mangos, kiwis, cantaloupes, and bananas. Fruits
also give you vitamins for growth and healthy skin. Fruits such as
apples can even clean your teeth! You may not know this but oranges,
grapefruit, lemons, and limes are something called citrus fruits.
You can eat fruit in four different ways. You can eat them fresh,
canned, frozen or dried, but fresh fruit has the most vitamins.
