Animals





Platypus - Platypuses eat fresh water inscets, their larvae, shrimps, yabbies, worms, tadpoles, small frogs, and fish.  In captivity platypuses live up to 17 years and in the wild they live up to 13 years.  They are found in fresh water lakes and streams. Their habits are swimming, burrowing, and diving.

Long - beaked Echidna - The Echidna eats ants, earthworms, and larger solitary insects.  The life span of this unknown.  It lives in bushes, hollow logs, under debris or in burrows.  This animal is a solitary animal.

Short - beaked echidna - The short echidna eats the same as the long beaked echidna.  This life span is not known.  This Echidna does the same things and lives in the same places as the long beaked Echidna

Carpet Python - This animal eats mamals, birds, and some small reptiles.  This snake is 2 meters long.  This animal lives in the wet tropics to the arid desert.  This animal hunts and gives birth.

Dingo - The Dingo is a dog like animal which was introduced to Australia 3,500 - 4,000 years ago.  They prey on Red - legged Pademelon. The body length of this animal can range from 860 - 122mm.
