The Lemming is a fat little animal closly related to the mouse but slightly plumpper, that lives in the cold regions of the north. Their diet consists of plants. The Lemming's nest is made of dirt.   The best known type of lemming lives in Scandinavia. A legend says that great numbers of lemmings ran through the seas and drowned themseves. Now scientists don't believe this. The reason that they did this was because they can reproduce in huge numbers and the mountains become overcrowded so they moved away. They get eaten a lot and starve. They grow from 5 to 11 inches long. They have stubby tails. Their body color varys from gray to brown.
