    Fish are vertebrates that almost always live in water. There are more types of fish than all vertebrates put together. Fish have all the colors of the rainbow even blinding bright colors. The size and shape of a fish varies so much it's hard to believe that they're all in the same family. Some fish look like rocks, pancakes, worms, and even Sea Urchins. Fish live everywhere that there is water even in freezing cold regions and steaming hot jungles. All fish have a backbone and breathe with gills. Almost every fish is cold-blooded, which makes them enable to regulate their temperature and it changes with its surrounding temperature.

Interesting Fact:

The Trimmaton _nanus, a goby living in the Indian Ocean is the smallest fish measuring measuring 2/5 of an inch when full-grown.

Fish appeared on Earth 500 million years ago. Fish were the first animals having a backbone to appear on Earth. Scientists believe that they are the ancestors of all vertebrates.
