Penguins Flying Birds

 

  

    A bird is a creature with feathers.  Their are no birds without any feathers, though at birth some may have very little.  No other creature on earth has feathers.  All birds also have wings though some cannot fly.  Birds are the fastest animal in the world, travelling up to 100 miles per hour.  There are 9,700 different species of birds.  Birds live all over the world from burning hot deserts to freezing cold arctic regions which are the birds we will be telling you about.   

    These birds are from the colder regions of the world. Most are birds of flight with the exception of penguins. The birds live in mostly Antarctica, Northern Canada, Europe, and Russia plus other countries.

  

Interesting Facts:

The highest flying bird is the bar-headed goose which flies 25,000 feet above the ground.

The fastest diving bird is the Peregrine Falcon which can dive at its prey at a speed of 200 miles per hour.

The greatest traveler is an Artic Tern which migrates 11,000 miles.

The deepest diver is an Emperor Penguin which cannot fly, but can dive to depths of 900 feet.   There wings are made for propelling themselves through water.
