Texas "The Lone Star State" became the 28th state on December 29, 1845. One of the 11 Confederate States, Texas seceded from the Union on March 2, 1861 and was readmitted on March 30, 1870. Texas's major resources are oil, natural gas and granite. With 40% of the nation's proved reserves, Texas beats all other states in oil and natural gas production. Most U.S. sulfur comes as a large by product of Texas' gas and oil refining. It also produces Helium, iron ore, silver, Uranium, talc, Magnesium, salt, limestone, sand and gravel, stone, and Graphite. |
