"The Gem State" became the 43rd state on July 3, 1890. Split between both The Washington and Oregon Territories, Idaho was not admitted to the Union until after gold was discovered, and miners came by the thousands.

Idaho's mineral resources are silver, lead, Antimony, cobalt, copper, gold, iron ore, mercury, sand and gravel, tungsten and zinc.
