Story #1

    I went to Australia on a business trip in November last year and had a chance to see the horse races in Melbourne.  It was a very big event and all the women wore fabulous hats!  I didn't have a hat so I felt a little out of place but no one seemed to mind.  The people I met were very friendly and very willing to fill me in on all the local history of the horse races.  The Melbourne Cup is only one of many horse races across Australia - it is popular because it is near the end of the "season" and like the Indianapolis car race in the United States, also has a very big prize for the winner!  

    I also visited Sidney and saw where the 2000 Olympics will be held.  There were lots of construction sites around the harbor getting ready for the big events.

    If I have a chance to return to Australia, I would spend at least 2-3 weeks there.  There's so much to see and do I might have to go several times!  I hope everyone that reads this has an opportunity to get there someday - of course, I recommend November because the weather is very very nice then!
