After World War II the marines had grown to 670,000 
me we went into the  Vietnam War that was the longest 
war that the marines ever participated in the Koran war 
was right after that in that war the United States lost 
about 250,00 men. One of the more resent actions of the 
marines was Operation Dessert Storm, Iraq invaded Kuwait 
and the marines quickly forced the attacking country out
of Kuwait.

The people eligible for the marines are men and 
women from the age of 17-28(women 18-28). The marines 
are a self controlled section off the Navy that serves 
on both land and sea. The command structure of the corps 
is corporal, sergeant, master sergeant, and sergeant 
major. The marines serve as detachments to ships, and to 
protect U.S. embraces. 

There two main military branches in the Pacific 
and in the Atlantic. One of the marine nicknames is 
leatherneck from the leather cravel once part of there 
uniform. The Leader of the marines is a four star 
general. The word marines comes from the word mare 
that means sea in Latin. The Emblem of the marines is a 
combined globe eagle and anchor, the motto is Semper 
Fidelis which means always faithful.
