URANUS

In l78l, a German musician in England made an incredible discovery. William Herschel was an amateur astronomer and was making charts of stars when he found that one "star" had moved. He had actually discovered a new planet! A giant with a diameter 4 times that of Earth. It was named Uranus.

It is a mystery planet. For one thing, it spins lying on its side. No one knows why. Since the planet takes 84 Earth years to go around the sun, this means that each of its poles is in daylight for 42 years and in darkness for the next 42.

The blue green color comes from the planet’s gases. It spins like all the other planets but it's tilted and looks like a top spinning on its side. Uranus has rings but they are black which makes them hard to see.
