Wombats can be found throughout Australia. There are two kinds of wombats-common wombats and plains wombats. Common wombats eat grass, leaves, and roots in the woodlands. These wombats are not seen during the day, but they can be heard at night. Plains wombats are found eating in grasslands. Wombats can grow to be four feet long and weigh from 30 to 75 pounds. Both species of wombats have brown fur. The common wombat has much thicker fur than the plains wombat. Another difference between these two wombats is that plains wombats have hairy noses, while common wombats have hairless noses. Plains wombats also have bigger ears that common wombats. |
