Serval

This 3 ft. long native of Africa is a pretty amazing species. Approximately the same size as the caracal, the serval has very long legs that can reach about the same length as its body, 3 ft. The base of the fur can be anywhere from sandy to reddish-brown. This is covered with dark spots that merge at the top to create stripes. Servals are fond of water, and are scattered all over Africa. They are mostly active during the daytime, though some nocturnal hunters are found near populated areas. Although it is a fair-sized cat, the serval's diet consist of small mammals such as quail, flamingoes, hares, and rodents. In some of the wetter areas, frogs have entered the diet. The serval's ears are especially adapted to hear the ultrasonic pitches made by rodents. They also have long legs to see over tall grass and can jump up to 10 ft. in the air to catch birds.
