Sea Lion
Sea lions have chestnut brown fur and spindle shaped
bodies. They also have a small head and external ear flaps that distinguish
it from the seal. The sea lion's diet includes fish and shellfish. It hunts
both day and night. Sea lions are well adapted to living in water. Sea
lions have well developed front flippers and a tail that can rotate upward
for better movement on land. They have blubber which is used to keep them
afloat. Sea lions also use it as a food source during a time of fasting.
Their nostrils can be closed when they are submerged and their large eyes
are adapted to see clearly underwater. There whiskers are used to sense
fish in murky waters.
