Otter
The otter is a 4 ft. long mammal that can weigh up
to 65 lbs. The otter has strong canine teeth (used for tearing food) and
flat molars (used for crushing). It has external ears and a flattened tail
flipper used for propulsion. The otters senses are very strong. It has
a very strong sense of smell, good eyesight, and an excellent sense of
touch.
Otters must eat at least 20 % of its body weight
to keep up its body temperature. The otter spends a large part of its day
grooming. This forces air bubbles next to the skin. These bubbles are used
for insulation for warmth and provide buoyancy.
