Lion
The lion doesn't look or act like any other big cat.
They live in social groups called prides, while other big cats are loners.
The lion's coat can range from grey/buff to reddish-brown. The females
often have white undersides, while the males have thick brown manes. The
members of the pride share many responsibilities. Communal suckling and
caring of the young is shared between all of the lionesses. Hunting is
also done as a group, with the pride ambushing their prey. Most of the
group drives the prey toward a lioness hiding in the grass. When the prey
is close enough, the lioness jumps on its victim.
The lion's home is in Africa, mostly on protected
preserves. They can grow to 10 ft. in length and are surpassed in size
only by the tiger.
