The fishing cat ranges from India, across Burma to the Thai peninsula, and down to Sumatra and Java. As the name implies, the fishing cat likes to fish and is never found far from water. It prefers swamps to flowing waters and has two ways of fishing. One way is to catch the fish with its paws. The other is to jump in the water and use its jaws. The fishing cat is threatened by habitat loss.
