Bottle-Nosed Dolphin
The bottle nosed dolphin is usually a charcoal gray,
often with a pink belly in the summer. These water mammals, who can reach
up to 9 ft. in length and can weigh up to 500 lbs., feast on shrimp, fish
invertebrates, and squid. The dolphins hunt in a very peculiar way. Sometimes
the will run fish into mud banks and other times they will herd them together.
They communicate in a system of squeals, clicks, and whistles and use echolocation
to get around.
