Caracal
The caracal resembles the lynx in the tufts on its
pointed ears, even though they are not closely related. It can grow up
to 3 feet in length with its tail taking up 1/3 of its length. Its coat
is generally yellowish-brown to darker red/brown in color with a white
underside, and black ears. The caracal is found in dry savannas, woodlands,
scrub land, rugged terrain, mountain regions, and dry arid or semi-arid
regions. It is usually nocturnal, but will sometimes use the twilight hours
to seek out prey. The caracal's diet includes jerboa's, sand rats, ground
squirrels, rock hyrax, reed ducks, duiker, pigeons, and guinea fowl.
