Bandicoots
Bandicoots are found in Australia, Tasmania, Paupa New
Guinea, and Indonesia. Bandicoot is the name for 21 species
of marsupials. Bandicoots are the size of rabbits. They all have
long noses except for the short-nosed bandicoot that has short
ears and a short nose. Bandicoots eat roots and bulbs, as well
as insects, lizards, and smaller animals. Theses animals have
a combing toe on each back foot. They groom themselves with
this toe and also use it to scratch at infectious ticks and lice.
Bandicoots are nocturnal, which means they sleep during the
day and come out at night. Bandicoots will kill others when they
come up to each other.
