Chapter 4

VOLCANO WORLD

Chandler found himself looking at a mass of land when a strong gust of hot air and a loud noise overcame him. He turned around to see fire breaking over the horizon line. He heard a weak cry off in the distance and looked again. He saw a small figure out of the corner of his left eye. While yelling, "Holly!" he heard his echo all around him. The sounds he heard mad him feel lonely and worried. He knew he would not find his sister just standing there so he continued his journey onward toward what looked like a road. Chandler decided to take the path that was to the left of a fork in the road. Fire and hot springs burst around him. He peered down into the crater that steam poured from occasionally. A Mass of slow moving yellowish gunk filled the crater to the brim. He noticed that the fire breaking over the horizon was settling down in its ebb and wane. Chandler saw this as an opportunity to travel faster over the terrain. He walked briskly onward trying not to look at the lava that seeped out of crevices of the craters. He saw the trail was getting narrower as he continued. The fire on the horizon was beginning to break more intensely now, and the lava was starting to cover the trail ahead. Chandler stopped and tried to figure out how to continue on. His thoughts were interrupted by a blast of lava that submerged the trail behind him. He turned around and saw the same thing happen to the trail ahead of him. He was trapped! Suddenly, a huge fireball singed his back. Chandler was knocked to the ground as another fireball hit him square in his back. He turned to see a massive creature made of fire. It was the size of a large man, but was made of flames.

"Welcome to my world", he said. He laughed, a low rumble. He raised his arm, and another fireball spouted from his palm. Chandler was hit in the arm, and he cried out in pain. He decided to treat the situation with hostility, and threw his grappling hook at the creature. It incinerated, and Chandler pulled back a burnt rope. The creature laughed again, and raised his arm. Chandler pulled out the small marbles from the Mayor, and threw them at the monster as the fireball was launched from his hand. The marbles exploded into a smokescreen. Suddenly, an explosion knocked him backwards, and the smokescreen was gone.

"They're smoke bombs," Chandler thought, and he tossed more of the marbles at the creature. A smokescreen formed around it, and as the flames from its body extended, it exploded, and Chandler was knocked unconscious by a blast of flames and lava.

Chandler awoke, and he found Holly near him.

"Holly!" he shouted, and she looked at him.

"The storm's clearing up," she said. Tor was fluttering around, shouting, "Chandler, oh Chandler! You've awakened! It seems that you have defeated Magma, the lord of Volcano World! We have to get out of here! Hurry, follow me before the storm starts to intensify again!"
