Pie Graph

Intro
Pie graphs are very different then other kinds of graphs because they compare percentages. Pie charts show this by showing a circle that represents 100% it then is divided into smaller percentages. If you used a pie graph to show the percentage of customers for AT&T and the percentage of customers for Sprint it would look some thing like the chart below.

1. First you must know how to do percentages. If you don’t know how to do them click here for instructions of how to do percentages. Once you have learned how to do percentages you now have to choose something to graph. Keep in mind that you have to be able to show percentages in your graph. So that your graph will make sense otherwise you can’t make a pie graph. Also keep in mind that you have to pick one subject for example you could pick to graph the number of phone customers worldwide and show the percentages of customers for two different phone companies and show the rest of the phone customers percentages as other companies.

2. Now that you have something to graph perform your tests or gather your information. Once you have done that you now have to put it all together. Make each variable a different percentage like in our example graph we graphed the percentages of phone customers out of 2000 our two variables were Sprint and AT&T. Once you’ve done that make your pie graph by drawing a circle now make a legend and color code it.

3. Now divide your circle into sections. The number of sections that you should have in your graph is equal to however many variables your graph has. The size of each thing you divided depends on it’s percentage for example: in our example chart AT&T had 70% which would make it 70% of the circle. Once everything has a name and size right the percentage of the sections on the inside or on the out side of the section it makes no difference. Make sure your graph has a title and That’s it your done great job.
