Ask the Park Ranger

Hi I’m the Park Ranger will help you differently than the others.  I will give you information about where houses are and if they’re below sea level. I live next to the estuary in Point Judith Rhode Island.  An estuary is a semi-enclosed body of water.  There’s a mix of fresh and salt water.  Without the estuary some life forms wouldn’t exist. This would make the whole world change.  There are around a hundred different animals that live in estuaries.  Some are the Silver Sides that are similar to minnows.  Others are the different kinds of bivalves and univalves.  All of these are going to die if humans are not aware of their impact on the estuaries.

Animal waste, human waste and human manufacturing can affect the estuary. Sometimes natural disasters will cause a problem.  Estuaries help out when there’s a flood because they suck up a lot of water like a sponge.  Bacteria naturally eats away some chemicals in the water so it’s cleaner.  I would recommend talking to the Save The Bay people next to learn more.
