Riparian

Riparian wetlands are the wetland areas along lakes, rivers and streams. These areas are wet mostly in the winter and in spring as the growing season starts. Riparian characteristics differ according to the region in which they are found as well as the characteristics of the waterway that they border. Riparian wetlands provide cover, food, and nesting places for a wide diversity of animal species. They are very productive ecosystems providing vital habitat.
