Flood Control
flood.BMP (430354 bytes)

Wetlands are good to have. They help stop some of the flooding in low areas. They act like a sponge soaking up the excess water. The ground absorbs the water. The water just stays there and slowly goes back into surrounding areas at a rate that the ground can handle. Many present day flood zones are at risk of flooding because surrounding wetland areas have been destroyed.
