Credit Card. U.S.A. "Plastic cash" began when US oil companies issued identity cards to their customers in the late 1940s. Then, in 1950, businessman Ralph Schneider launched "The Diners Club" with the first general-purpose card for food-lovers. Other businesses soon followed suit.
