Beadwork is the Shoshone’s favorite art that people can
wear. After 1805 fur traders brought glass beads to trade. Shoshone beadwork
has always used the wild rose design. Even before glass beads, the Shoshone
used porcupine quill to sew the rose design.
Today the Shoshone are known for making the best beadwork
in the world. Some of the Shoshone craftspeople use the tea rose design.
They like cut bead instead of round beads. The cut beads are usually made
in Czechoslovakia.
