Shoshone Beadwork

Beadwork is the Shoshone’s favorite art that people can wear. After 1805 fur traders brought glass beads to trade. Shoshone beadwork has always used the wild rose design. Even before glass beads, the Shoshone used porcupine quill to sew the rose design.
Today the Shoshone are known for making the best beadwork in the world. Some of the Shoshone craftspeople use the tea rose design. They like cut bead instead of round beads. The cut beads are usually made in Czechoslovakia.
