There are many celebrations that take place during the wintertime.   Chanukah is one of the celebrations.

Chanukah is known as the festival of lights, and is a holiday that is celebrated by the Jewish people. Chanukah is the remembrance of when the Jews regained their temple over 2000 years ago. During Chanukah Jewish people are encouraged not to work, and while they are not working they play a game called Driedl. Dreidl is a game where you spin a four-sided top, and win an amount of chocolate coins. Either you win half of the chocolate coins, win all of the coins, give up half of your chocolate coins, or give up all of your chocolate coins. Latkes are also a special treat they are basically fried potato cakes that are cooked over fire. Speaking of fire they also have a tradition that involves candles.

Since Chanukah lasts for eight days, there are nine candles, including the one they use to light all the candles with, in the Mornora. The Manora is the holder of all the candles, and the name for the one that is used to light all the other candles is called a Shamash, and it is located in the middle. When presents are served they are placed around the nine candles. Normally there are eight presents for each person, one per day.
