These monsters are ancient
Greek myths and were some of the first stories. The tale starts
as Gea, otherwise known as Mother Earth, is created. Her life was
lonley for years until finally she found a suitable husband. He was Uranus,
god of the sky. His face was made of stars and he has a long beard of
constellations.
He smiled down every night at Gea.
One day they
had children, and they were Cyclopses. Uranus was disgraced. The next children
were beings with 100 arms and 50 heads. Well, Uranus sure had a fit! He
locked all the sons up in the deepest pit on Earth. Gea was depressed.
Gea wanted
to have revenge on her husband. She said to one of her sons that he must escape
and scare away her father. No one was happy and brave even enough to consider.
Finally, the bravest cyclops volunteered. Gea gave him weapons and a hammer.
He came out and told everyone else to come out, too. Together they scared
Uranus away
