Ostrich

The ostrich is
as very large running bird that lives in Africa. It used to live from Syria and Arabia to
South Africa, but now it is limited to the drier, sandier parts of Africa. It has a large
neck and a small head. The adult ostrich stands between 7 to 8 ft. tall, and weighs about
300 pounds. The ostrich's body is covered in drooping blackish or black feathers, and the
head and neck are covered with short tufty down and fine bristles. It can run up to 40
miles per hour, taking gigantic leaps of up to 12-15 ft.
