The giraffe is the tallest of all living mammals. A male giraffe can grow to be 16 to 20 ft. tall, but the female is somewhat shorter. It is this height because of its long legs and neck. Its thick hide is covered with short, yellow hair, with brown spots. Since the coloring is almost exactly like its environment the giraffe can become nearly invisible. They can also run so fast even a fast horse would have a hard time outrunning it! The male has two very small, straight horns on the top of its head. In one species the female has horns too. They are very beautiful animals.
