Hi, my name is Ashley. I live on Kauai and attend King Kaumuali'i Elementary School. I love to play soccer. This is my first year in Thinkquest. And trust me, it wasn't all fun and games.

There were long days after school as well as weekend sleepovers. But it was all worth it. I learned a lot of new things, like how to use Adobe Photo Shop. I also learned that earthquakes in Hawaii are mainly caused by the magma pushing its way through the ground or crustal plates. Well, that just shows you what you know. You live somewhere, and you think you know everything about that place, but you don't.

Also throughout the whole Thinkquest period I had to juggle schedules. Now see, I had two soccer teams to attend to as well as Thinkquest. It wasn't easy. Sometimes, just to keep everything going, I had to skip soccer practice or skip Thinkquest. It was somewhat hard to keep up with sometimes. But I stuck to it.

That just shows you that if you think you can't make it, but you still try, you may succeed.

Hi, my name is Terada. I go King Kaumuali'i School on Kauai. I am in the 6th grade. My favorite hobby is to play soccer. I really like lots of other sports but soccer is my all time favorite. This is my first year in Thinkquest JR and I have learned so much. What I have learned in Thinkquest JR is how to operate a computer properly and the different things you can save on your computers. I have learned how to use the different formats on the computer and how to make pretty cool animated pictures. I am really a busy person and Thinkquest is not the only thing I have had going at once. I am on two soccer teams and this Thinkquest team. I really am a very busy person with my school hours taken away during the day. It's a really good thing that my best friend Ashley and I are in all these things together, helping each other in our weaknesses. All of us have been able to make really good progress throughout our site. The pictures and graphics are really unique and look like a lot of work was put into every last one of them. Our accomplishments have been a great success and even if we don't win, we learned to work as a true team.

Hello, My name is Sarah and I am a 5th grader at Aiea Elementary School. I am a member of Thinkquest's imagineer team. Our topic is on natural disasters. The natural disaster that I am doing is tsunamis. I have learned a lot about tsunamis as well as volcanoes, hurricanes, and earthquakes. I knew somethings about tsunamis in the beginning of Thinkquest but not that much. After most of the information had been gathered, I was almost like the expert on tsunamis. One reason I think the site worked was because my team had two of the best coaches, Mrs. Fu and Mrs. Fujita. I enjoyed being in Thinkquest. I not only had fun but I learned a lot, too. All of the information I found also educated me in what I should do in case there is a tsunami. I can tell all of my family and friends about all I have learned so they have the information with them in case they ever will need it. I have learned a lot of interesting facts about tsunamis as well as its beast and beauty. One of the interesting facts that I learned was that the word "tsunami" comes from the word "harbor" in Japanese. Another cool fact that I have learned is that tsunamis don't only come as one wave, they come in a series, which means tsunamis come one after the other and that they are not all one size. Another thing I learned about these series of waves are that the first and last waves waves are not always the biggest waves. Any wave in the series could be the biggest and the smallest. I have learned that Japan is the place where tsunamis happen the most. The people in Japan are always prepared because tsunamis happen all the time, big ones as well as small ones. I liked Thinkquest so much that I hope I can come back and be a veteran.

My name is Wesley. I attend Moanalua Elementary School where I am in fifth grade. I play soccer some of the year and used to play baseball. I enjoy video and computer games. This is my second year in Thinkquest. I did stuff in the volcanoes page like: What is a Hotspot; Life Cycle of an Island; How was Hawaii Formed; Interesting Volcano Facts; Benefits; How to Predict Eruptions; and Interview. I learned many things this year like Flash 4, Adobe Photoshop, and everything about volcanoes! Me and the team did lots together, like go to the Big Island of Hawaii (where I got to interview a real volcanologist, stay up long hours on Kauai, and survive my second 7 months of Thinkquest (might go for a 3rd). I couldn't have done it without the help of my great coaches Mrs. Fu and Mrs. Fujita, my skilled partner William Lawrimore, and my mom Lynn Okazaki.

Hi, my name is Jenna and I am from the island of Kauai. I am a 6th grader at King Kaumualii Elementary School. I enjoy dancing hula, painting, and listening to music. I also play volleyball for my team, Po'okela, and go to practices twice a week. I enjoy Thinkquest and learning about my topic this year...the natural disasters of Hawaii. My part of the website was hurricanes of Hawaii. Learning about hurricanes and how they form was a very good experience for me. One experience that I will always remember was when we went to interview the Mayor, Maryanne Kusaka, and I saw a beautiful driftwood model on her desk that a friend had made for her out of pieces of wood he found on the beach. It was fun and exciting making new friends and work with them to create our website. I have been participating in Thinkquest for 3 years now and look forward to learning a lot more about computers and especially graphic art since I like drawing. This has been a lot of fun for me and I will always remember the many nights of work we did.

I learned how to use Photoshop to its full extent. I learned to use the tools to their best abilities. I learned how to blend colors to prefection. What I produced - I made a perfect volcano graphic. My next steps are to make my other two volcano pictures and I am hoping to make some collages. I will strive to make every goal I set to get a successful site for ThinkQuest. I will strive to pay more attention to someone who is talking. And finally, I will try to e-mail more.
