Chopsticks are two sticks that you hold in your hand to pick up various foods. It is bad manners to have chopsticks stuck in the rice. Most Japanese eat at bars or at their home. It is impolite to eat in the public. That is why many Japanese eat near stands. Businessmen usually eat their main meal late or they eat at a restaurant near them.

It is made from beef and simmered with soy sauce. Sushi is a kind of fish that is raw or cooked. It originated from Japan. Sushi (fish and squid) is very costly and is reserved for special occasions. Japanese have different foods each season.. In the summer, there are chilled noodles and barley tea. For autumn, they have chestnuts, mushrooms, pumpkins and sweet potatoes.
Mothers wake up to make breakfast for everyone in the family. They usually have thick toast or bread, jam and coffee. For breakfast everyday they have miso soup. Miso soup is made with fermented soy beans, tofu, seaweed, kelp, and leeks. They have a food for lunch called rising sun bento and it has a pickle in the middle of some rice looking like the Japanese flag.
If you go to Japan, for a drink you would be given looking like pale green tea. This green tea is made from the Japanese tea plant. It is made from dried leaves. Sake is a famous Japanese wine. It is made from fermented from white rice.
They have special foods for the New Year's time. For the New Year Eve festival, they have a bowl of soba noodles. In the morning on New Years Day they drink sake. Their breakfast is ozoni, which is a thick soup of vegetables and rice cake. At lunchtime, they eat many sorts of fish, vegetables, soybeans, seaweed, and dessert called Kuri Kinton. Kuri Kinton is made with chestnuts, sweet potatoes, sugar, and sesame seeds.
