India had one of the world's oldest civilizations and is rich is history and traditions. It is roughly one-third the size of United States. Half of the country is cultivated and one-fourth is with forests. It has a small portion of the Himalayan Moutains in the north. The temperatures vary according to the elevation and the region. Monsoons are seasonal winds of the Indian Ocean that blow in the summertime and bring heavy rainfall.
