Greece is just smaller than Alabama. Greece is part of the west because of its heritage and membership in North Atlantic Treaty Orginization (NATO) and the European Union (EU). Greece is south of Albania, Bulgaria, and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. Greece has been independent from Yugoslav federation since 1991. The climate is warm-temperate in the Mediterranean and in the north, it is wet and cool. There can be possible earthquakes. The winters there are mild but wet.
