Food in Argentina

Beef is the main diet. They eat beef more than any other people in the world. Other favorites include baked stuffed beef, and empanadas (meat or vegetables pies). They also eat chicken and pork and other different varieties of meat. Locro which is made of wheat, corn and potatoes is preferred in winter. Fruits are popular. Grapes are one of Argentina’s main exports. Yerbe mate is the national drink of Argentina. To make this tea, the tea leaves are placed in a special wooden cup called a mate and then hot water is poured. This tea is then drunk through a silver straw called bombilla. Italian and French foods are popular in Argentina.
