Argentina is the eighth largest country in the world and is one third the size of United States. It is a large plain that rises from the Atlantic Ocean and extends to the Andes mountains in the west. Northeast is dry except in the summer when it is rainy. The central plain, Las Pampas, is famous for its wheat and cattle production. It is also where most Argentines live. The southern parts are flat and are used for sheep raising. About 60 percent of Argentina is used for agriculture and another 20 percent is covered with forests.
