In the Sugar Bowl the coaches of all the collages and sports writers vote to rank the collage teams. The teams that are selected to play in the Sugar Bowl are chosen through the ranking system. The teams are ranked by a formula based on four components: polls, computers, ranking, difficulty of schedule, and win/loss record. The polls component is figured by averaging the rankings of the teams based on a poll of the media and of the college coaches.
