MacArthur
Douglas MacArthur was born in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1880. He and his father, Arthur MacArthur, are the only father and son to win the Medal of Honor. Douglas MacArthur commanded a brigade in France in World War I, and was wounded. In 1941 he was named commander of U.S. forces in the Far East. As supreme commander of the Allied forces, he presided over the Japanese surrender on the second of September, 1945. When the Korean War broke out, he became commander of the U.N. forces in Korea. Due to conflict with Harry Truman, he was relieved of his command. He returned home to a heroes welcome.
