Eisenhower

   Dwight David Eisenhower was born in 1890 in Denison, Texas. He entered the U.S. Military Academy at West Point on June 14, 1911 and graduated on June 12, 1915. Eisenhower served as chief military aide to General Douglas MacArthur, and was then assigned to MacArthur from 1935 to 1939. He was named Commander-in-Chief of Allied Forces in North Africa in 1942. He was appointed supreme commander of Allied Expeditionary Forces in December of 1943. Eisenhower commanded the invasion of Normandy in 1944. He was promoted to the rank of five stars on December 20,1944. He was designated Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army in 1945. Eisenhower was named Supreme Allied Commander of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
