Boards are now made from seven pieces of sugar maple wood, along with some glue, compressed in a skateboard press with about five other skateboards. The press adds concave curves (the curves going upward) on the ends, which makes the board stronger, and gives the rider more control, and presses the wood together until they are stuck to each other.
