Hydrogen

Hydrogen is the element I am going to tell you about today. Hydrogen is Greek for water generator because you make water when you mix Oxygen and Hydrogen together. Hydrogen is the lightest and simplest element in the world. It also has the least concentration of any element. Even though Hydrogen is the simplest element, 90% of all the Universe's atoms are Hydrogen. A quart of regular water weighs 2 lbs., but a quart of liquid hydrogen weighs 2 1/4 ounces. If a room was filled with regular gases the air would weigh 150 lbs.  That is a lot, but if the room was filled with Hydrogen, it would weigh 10 lbs. Hydrogen can also be dangerous. If Hydrogen were to be mixed with Oxygen, plus a little heat, it would create an Oxyhydrogen flame, a flame that is so hot it can cut through steel like a hot knife through butter!
