Zachary Taylor was our twelfth president. He was a professional soldier and fought in the Battle of Buena Vista, and the Mexican War. People called him Old Rough and Ready. Most people voted for him because of his victory during the Mexican War. Taylor never fininished office because he died in 1850 from gastro enteritis.
