James A. Garfield

James A Garfield was elected Senate in 1880. He was then unexpectedly nominated for president. In 1881 James went to Williamstown to attend a class reunion and send his two oldest sons to college there. When he got there Guiteau fired at him. A few months later he died, and his vice president Arthur took oath into presidency.
