After Calvin Coolidge's second term ended in 1927, Herbert Hoover was elected President in 1928. Previously, he had been a trustee of Stanford University. He announced a tax cut during the first year of his term. He opposed the repealing of Amendment 18 in 1931. After his term ended, he became the chairman of the Boys Club of America.
