Seneca Falls Convention
July 19 1848 the Seneca Falls convention was held in Seneca Falls , New York. The idea originated when Elizabeth Cady Staton and Lucretia Mott were not allowed to attend a anti-slavery meeting in London, England in 1840. Eight years later in Seneca Falls , held the convention on July 19 and 20. On the first day only women were allowed. On the second day the assembly was open to the public. Also on the second day Elizabeth Cady Staton read the Declaration Sentiments aloud to the crowd. 100 people signed the Declaration. 68 women and 32 men.
Because of the Seneca Falls Convention inspired women to push for equality.
Which lead for the 19th Amendment to be passed. As a result of events in the women’s rights movements, women today have legal rights and of course the right to vote.
