Living
There are many types of wallabies. A few of them are the Agile, the Whiptail, the
Red Necked, and the Swamp Wallaby. Wallabies are marsupials and the groups they live
in are many different sizes.
The Agile wallabies live in groups up to ten.
Then the Whiptail wallabies live in groups around 50. The Red-necked
wallaby lives in very high numbers at night for grazing. Then the Swamp wallaby eats
in very small groups. During the day these wallabies burrow underground and at night
they emerge for feeding.
Food
The wallabies eat native and exotic vegetation consisting of shrubs, bushes, and many
types of grasses. They also eat leaves and fruits.
Breeding
A single young is born in Australia between January and July. The babies are called
joeys and they live in their mother's pouch for nine months.
Habitat
The wallabies live in south-eastern
Australia.
